WATERLOO CHAMBER PLAYERS
A small orchestra composed of skilled amateur and semi-professional musicians in the Waterloo Region
Eine kleine Kammermusik
7:30 p.m., Saturday, February 24th, 2024
Knox Presbyterian Church, Waterloo
WCP began in 1994 as a small, unconducted string ensemble. Since our new Principal Conductor, Dr. Kira Omelchenko, is away on sabbatical and a Fulbright Scholarship this year, we are returning to unconducted ensembles, but with a twist. In this concert we will present works by a woodwind ensemble, a brass ensemble as well as a string ensemble, all current WCP members.
Over the centuries, many composers have faced discrimination or oppression: women in a “man’s world”, Jews in Europe, blacks in a “white world”, non-conformists in autocratic societies …. Yet, in spite of the obstacles, some of these composers have created wonderful music. We present works by six of these composers.
The Waterloo Chamber Players is a small orchestra composed of skilled amateur and semi-professional musicians who have been playing and performing together since 1994.
We do not have a set admission fee. All of our concerts are, ‘pay what you can’. If you are able, we suggest $20 per person. Tax receipts are available.
