Dr. Kira Omelchenko, Conductor
Dr. Omelchenko is on sabbatical from WLU this year. As the recipient of a prestigious Fulbright Scholar Award for 2023-24, she is doing much travelling to participate in or lead workshops and to conduct.
Highlights of Dr. Omelchenko’s summer and fall travel and conducting:
- Guest conducting in Carnegie Hall (NYC)
- A month of conducting opera at the Vienna Opera Academy at the Musikverein (home of the Vienna Philharmonic, in Vienna, Austria)
- Guest conductor for the International Music Festival (Bangkok, Thailand)
- Travels to Israel and Czech Republic
- Visit and travels to South Korea, conducting clinics with orchestras
Then back to Kitchener Waterloo to conduct WCP’s October 27th Halloween Spooktacular!
What’s next?
- Guest conducting the PEI (Prince Edward Island) Symphony Orchestra, the Orlando All-County Festival Orchestra and the Oregon All-State Symphony Orchestra
- Clinics and workshops throughout the state of Florida.
- In January, Dr. Omelchenko will be packing up and heading off to New Zealand for her Fulbright Award from January to July!
