Tawnya Convoy, Flute
Tawnya Convoy is a Canadian classical flutist, originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and now based in Kitchener Waterloo.
Originally Tawnya studied Orchestral Performance at Wilfrid Laurier University, where she developed her passion for orchestral and chamber music. An active performer throughout the region, she has appeared with ensembles including the Waterloo Chamber Players and the Wellington Wind Symphony, bringing a warm, expressive musicality and a dedication to collaborative performance.
Tawnya Convoy
As a versatile musician, Tawnya is equally at home in a choral setting. She sings in the alto section with the Grand Philharmonic Choir and Grand Philharmonic Chamber Choir. She’s also a member of the Waterloo County Carollers, sharing her love of choral music with audiences throughout the holiday season.
Tawnya is a founding member of Anemoi Flute Quartet, an ensemble dedicated to exploring and sharing the diverse repertoire of flute chamber music. Through her work as a flutist, vocalist, and chamber musician, she is passionate about creating meaningful musical experiences and contributing to the vibrant arts community of Waterloo Region.
In addition to performing, she continues to deepen her understanding of the flute through an apprenticeship with renowned flute maker David Wimberly, studying advanced flute repair techniques and gaining insight into the craftsmanship and mechanics behind the instrument she plays.
Beyond the concert stage, Tawnya is an avid runner. She has embraced the dedication required for distance running, recently completing her first 50km ultra marathon at Sulphur Springs in May of this year. Her passion for running reflects the same commitment, and focus that she brings to her musical practice.
Drawing on her Nova Scotian roots, Tawnya continues to share her love of classical music through performance, collaboration, and community engagement.
Daniella Kistemaker, Harp
Daniella Kistemaker is a harpist who performs across Ontario. She has been playing harp for almost 20 years, studying first with Marie Lorcini and Sharleen Wallace and then with Lori Gemmell. While growing up, she was a part of the KW Youth Orchestra and participated in multiple competitions, winning the OMFA provincials for Grade 10 and ARCT harp.
She received her BMus from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2023 and her MA in Music Theory from the University of Toronto in 2025 and is currently doing her PhD in Music Theory at the University of Toronto.
Daniella Kistemaker
She has been the harpist of the Waterloo Chamber Players and the Wellington Wind Symphony since 2023 and plays with other orchestras in the area such as the KW Community Orchestra, the Guelph Symphony Orchestra, and once as a soloist with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. She has also been active as a harp teacher since 2022.
